The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated film which follows lead character, Emmet a completely ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is identified as the most "extraordinary person" and the key to saving the Lego universe. Emmet and his friends go on an epic journey to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business.
The evil plans of Lord Business to ensure order in his world with a powerful weapon is in jeopardy as a prophecy about 'Special' comes true with the discovery of 'Piece of Resistance'. With odds like Bad Cop, Micro managers and 'Man from upstairs' stacked against him during his journey to save the world; Emmett, a construction worker, has a long way to go before he succeeds.
This film tells the story of a young man who is not very bright or memorable. He turns out to be the unlikely hero who saves the Lego worlds from am evil billionaire.
The characters are so cute and colorful, and I really like the scenes where they show the posts number on the screen. The story is lighthearted and fun, and actually borders on being silly. If it was a film with real life actors, it would not have worked. It would have been to silly and too contrived. But it's Lego, and therefore it had to be fun, and every bass thing about it can be excused! It's not just a film, but a film that brings back collective memories of the childhood. Therefore it is more enjoyable than just the film on its own. Tinted by the happy childhood memories, everything about the movie becomes awesome!
When I first saw the trailer to the Lego Movie, I just thought it was going to be a film that kids would like but not really anyone else. Fortunately I was wrong, the Lego Movie is very entertaining and everyone will love it. I actually think that teens and adults might like this movie more since a lot of the jokes only they will get.
The animation is very cool. Literally everything is Lego's, and its animated to look like stop motion. The voice acting is top notch, while other animated movies would waste money hiring celebrities, the talent here is well used. Everyone does a fantastic job, I especially enjoyed Liam Neeson as Bad Cop. But the standout one is Chris Pratt as Emmet.
This film has a lot of humor, I was laughing a lot throughout the whole movie. There are tons of jokes and a lot of them include references that only adults will catch. But because of all the humor is why I was so surprised by a very touching moment at the end of the film which I won't spoil. But it's really great and made this movie ten times better.
In the end I really loved the Lego Movie. It has beautiful animation, great voice talent, tons of humor, and some touching moments. I highly recommend it.
All told, there's an ageless warmth to The LEGO Movie akin to that of the LEGO brand itself.
