A British expedition formed by the lead researcher Jonathan Marchant, his assistant, a doctor and a TV crew, travels to Congo to seek evidence of a dinosaur. A local guide and the helicopter pilot join the team and the group heads to the jungle. During their trip, they find a stowaway in the helicopter, the son of Jonathan. Soon the helicopter is attacked by flying creatures and crashes in the jungle in the beginning of the last journey of Jonathan Marchant and his team.
As a fan of found footage films and dinosaurs, this movie was right up my alley. I am a very harsh critic of the FF films, as most are just... well, terrible. Most focus on endless shaky cam, screaming idiots, and little else. This movie is not one of those.
It's a wonderfully shot film, with some truly amazing scenes. There's some great (albeit low budget) special effects that really push it up a notch. And the acting is actually enjoyable. The characters act like people, not just Youtubers screaming to get attention.
The plot itself is simple, yet effective. Well written without being utterly nonsensical. It actually helps drive the movie, unlike most films of this type where the plot is either non-existant or gets in the way of the movie.
And as a dinosaur fan, I really enjoyed the work they put in to it. We don't have dinosaurs charging down city streets or crushing buildings. We have them acting like the animals they are. It shows clearly that the people making this film truly love dinosaurs and wanted to use them as animals and not just monsters.
I highly recommend this film to everyone. It's worth watching.
A lot of people seem not to like this movie. I would say that if you watched in the cinema, yes, you are gonna be disappointed but on a DVD that is another matter.
It is slow paced but since the overall feel to be like a documentary then you understand the pacing.
The acting is good, a little cheesy from Matt Kane but in general his performance is passable.
The story in it's self is a little thin but what can you write about a bunch of people trapped in a jungle full of dinosaurs?
The special effects are very passable with the lighting and shadows on the CGI dinos was well done as so as not to look superimposed on screen for that little screen time they had.
Rent it, watch it with a bowl of popped c and chillex. There are worse crap out there like the new Conan movie.
