At the dawn of the 20th century, a band of adventurers are part of an expedition to prove the existence of a lost world isolated from the modern world. The Lost World is a great show. 3 seasons, 66 episodes of intriguing adventure. The series follows the book loosely, yes , how many shows follow the book they are modeled after word for word. The worst thing that could have been written into the show would have been too many dinosaurs, making it another Jurassic Park, thats already been done thank you. The story lines range from apemen to the afterlife, anything is possible in the lost world, thats the point. By playing TV critic you miss the whole point of the show. Its a well written adventure series with interesting characters and story lines, it is not "Gone With The Wind", it was never meant to be. If you want classic drama read Mody Dick, if you want action and adventure The Lost World is for you.
For those of us who love living in fantasy worlds, The Lost World series is all you could ask. The show, not only has action, but a continuing story line, growing relationships between the characters, and both actors and characters that you can care about(a hard to find combination on TV or at the movies). I love "tough women", women who can hold their own and slug it out with the best. Rachel Blakely and Jennifer O'Dell prove to be that and more - You grow to love both, for their faults and blessings. Also a rarity is a show that teaches a worthwhile moral: Being willing to sacrifice self for your friends, family or loved ones is more important than gold and jewels. I only wish there were more episodes to relive the fantasy.
Yes, it is based off the book of the same name. It is essentially the same story, with little changes. The character of Veronica was not featured in the book, and is a character original to the television series. a5c7b9f00b
