Girl Guides Australia enables girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.
Within Districts, Girl Guides are divided into four age groups—or 'Units'—to ensure activities are age-appropriate. Girls aged 5–7 are Pre-junior Guides; 7–10 are Junior Guides; 10–14 are Guides; and 14–18 are Senior Guides. Units generally meet weekly during the school term. They play games, progress through
uniform. Uniform is worn by Members to create a sense of unity and to identify them as Guides. Districts are encouraged to form clothing pools. A uniform including a sash will be worn when a girl makes her Promise. It will also be worn at Unit meeting and at special times such as State Awards Presentation and ANZAC Day
