Gnorm is just an average Gnome. But he wants to impress the lady Gnomes by doing something heroic. So he steals the Gnome's magic stones to expose them to sunlight to recharge them. When he gets to the surface, (Gnome's live deep underground) he witnesses a murder, and the killer ends up with his stones. Detective Casey, who was working a sting operation with the murdered man, (another detective) is blamed for botching the sting, and causing the death. Wanting to catch the killer to clear his name, he teams up with Gnorm, who he accidentally discovers. He is going to need Samantha's help, but she thinks he is a nut. You see, no one else knows about Gnorm.
A Los Angeles police detective partners up with a talking gnome in order to bring down the head of a crime ring.

Gnomes are mischievous folks that enjoy making humans look stupid when they pronounce 'gnome' with a hard G.
Fortunately, the dwarfish imp in this comedy enunciates his name with a confident consonant sound.
Headed towards the surface in hopes of recharging the magical stones that belong to his subterranean race, a gnome named Gnorm (Mike Avery) is instead embroiled in a murder case involving a dead police officer.
When his partner is killed in the line of duty and the blame falls on him, Det. Gallagher (Anthony Michael Hall) must team up with the only witness to the incident, which happens to be a gnome named Gnorm.
With a laughable plot that falls betwixt fantasy and buddy-comedy, as well as a pitiable attempt at puppetry, A Gnome Named Gnorm is strictly lowbrow entertainment.
Besides, the police dogs would eat the gnome cop before he could even solve his first case. (Red Light)
Straight to the point, this movie is bad. I have trouble calling it even a B movie, and probably ranks at the C level. However, if you have an odd sense of humor, you will get a sick sense of satisfaction from this movie. I was grinning all the way through this movie, but a grimace was hiding just underneath. The funniest scene is when the gnome character insists that gnome is pronounced ga-nome. Still to this day, I find myself grinning whenever I think about the comment "no it's gnot", and say it whenever possible. My suggestion is to see this movie, but see it when you truly have nothing better to do, as it will rank somewhere between a complete waste of time, and the greatest experience ever (ok, not quite, but it was enjoyable). If you are expecting a serious film, look elsewhere, but for classic C film quality, look no further.
