This book has been designed to meet the requirement of students who are preparing for different competition or taking lessons at the august universities of India or abroad. It would be helpful for all who are appearing at the competitive examination in India.
This book has numerous amounts of knowledgeable information of standard dictionaries in English language. The present book is a novel attempt to cover a wide range of the problems of students of English language subjects. In making of this book, I faced very busy preparedness in my author life. I have enumerated about different knowledgeable words though it is not our area of professional work, it is in the all round of the English subjects that we have studied partially, but in this book it has by no means unlimited to that context.
This book would seek to serve as a reliable guide and companion to all students and educated people of this world and all those who are involved directly or indirectly with the education of different groups. Of making many English Dictionaries there is no end; nor should there be till theoretical scholarship and actual practice are more happily wedded. In this field much valuable work has already been accomplished; but it has been largely by workers accustomed to take the scholar`s point of view and their writings are addressed rather to trained minds than to immature learners.
To find an advanced Dictionary unencumbered with hard words, abstruse thoughts and difficult principles, is not altogether an easy matter. These things enhance the difficulty which an ordinary youth experiences in grasping and assimilating the facts of dictionary and create dislike for the study. It is therefore, the leading object of this book is to be both scholarly and as practical as possible.
It has been our aim to make a Dictionary of as wide a scope as is consistent with the proper definition of the world. Therefore, in addition to recording and classifying the facts of language we have endeavoured to attain two other objects, - to cultivate mental skill and power and to induce the student to prosecute studies in this field. It is not supposable that in so delicate and difficult an undertaking there should be an entire freedom from errors and oversights. We shall gratefully accept ant assistance in helping to correct mistakes. A study abroad program for higher studies has always been considered as an enriching and challenging experience. Along with a rewarding career, students also get an experience about new cultures, customs, and ideas that help in molding their personalities. Thus, the reason why hundreds of aspirations migrate to various parts of the world to complete their higher studies goes way beyond academics. To get admission into an American university or that of other countries you need to clear international entrance exams. Sometimes, you not only appear for these exams entrance to these elite institutes but also to win scholarships. The amount of funding you get also depends upon your performance.
Therefore, it is very important to get a good score. There are a plethora of International entrance exams such as SAT, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, GRE etc, which cater to different educational courses. Practicality is a necessary attribute of success in any realm of life. Nevertheless, I tend to disagree with the speaker that it is possible to achieve great results using merely a pragmatic approach. Idealistic views guarantee not ephemeral success provided by pragmatic behaviour, but rather long-term prosperity and satisfaction.
This book contains more than nine thousand words often used in English language, around two hundred fifty new English words. It is profoundly and eagerly hoped that this book will prove to be a boon for readers. The suggestions for improvement of this book are warmly welcome and they will be inserted at proper places in the ensuing edition.
