In preparing fir this Album the introdubi'ory Monograph on Robert Franz, I have relied for fa s upon his own letter to Franz Liszt (dated September 29, I 8 5 5) and Prochezka's Biography. What I have allowed myself to say in the way of criticism is based more upon my own study of his works than upon the writings of earlier commentators. In compiling the here appended bibliography, I have had in view only Franz the song-composer, not the Franz who completed scores by Bach, Handel, and other.
