This streamlined submission process allows you to quickly send your work to the journal and obtain rapid feedback from the editors without having to prepare all of your materials up front. PLOS Biology began transitioning to Aperta in May 2016 and no longer accepts new submissions in the Editorial Manager system.

Reviewers are required to treat all submitted manuscripts in strict confidence and should not share information about submissions with any other parties unless previously agreed with the editor. Go to our online submission system and log in. Submit new manuscript. Click on the “Submit New Manuscript" link under the “New Submissions" heading. Article type. Next, select your article type. Title. Enter the title and short title of your manuscript. Contributors. Corresponding author. Category. Abstract. Keywords.
Read the author contribution instructions in the Submission Guidelines. The corresponding author must provide an ORCID iD at the time of submission by entering it in the user profile in the submission system. File format. Manuscript files can be in the following formats: DOC, DOCX, or RTF. Microsoft Word documents should not be locked or protected. LaTeX manuscripts must be submitted as PDFs.
