Jake Green is a hotshot gambler, long on audacity and short on common sense. He's rarely allowed to play in any casino because he is a winner. Jake has taken in so much money over the years, he is the only client of his accountant and older brother Billy. One night, Jake, Billy and their other brother Joe are invited to sit in on a private game, where Jake is expected to lose to Dorothy Macha, a crime boss and local casino owner who can't play for squat, but always wins because people are too scared to beat him. Jake isn't afraid of Macha, and not only beats Dorothy in a quick game of chance, but takes every possible opportunity to insult the man. Jake and his brothers leave the game, and Macha puts out the order for a hit on Jake, who ends up working for and being protected by a pair of brothers, Avi and Zack, who are out to take Macha down.
Gambler Jake Green enters into a game with potentially deadly consequences.
It's not pretentious- it's just a concept totally unintuitive and relatively complex until it's understood. Once it's understood you realize the complete truth in it.

Bravo for making an artistic movie that makes people ask questions. This film is necessary because a simple documentary only reaches those already searching for truth. This type of film will be seen by much larger audiences. The truth beautiful. Thank you Guy Ritchie for sharing the light with the world or at least those willing to stretch their minds further.
Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham collaborate once again with a huge cast of mostly action bloke films. While this is absolutely still a bloke film this one is quite different from your average Ritchie film and I have to admit I find myself impressed with the acting range shown by the entire cast but a shout out to Statham who was a real performance surprise and absolutely to Ray Liotta who hit all of his marks perfectly.
I hope more film makers see this film as a new benchmark for the two actors so they may be cast in a few more interesting rolls.
I enjoyed it and hope you guys do as well when you get around to seeing it.
It's no return to rock, this, but rather Ritchie's soporific, proggy-conceptual Film of Ideas, with Vivaldi interludes, fussbudget set design, recurrent references to chess, and a hit man inexplicably got up as Tati's Mr. Hulot.
