Science fiction suspense thriller, in which a rescue space ship crew meets up with horrors projected by their own imaginations.
When spaceship Remus crash-lands on planet Morganthus, the Planet Master of Xerces sends the spacecraft Quest to rescue them, but it crash-lands, too. Baelon leads the away team, comprising himself, his rival Cabren, psi-sensitive Alluma, medic Dameia, martial arts fighter Quuhod and jittery rookie Cos. Finding only brutally murdered bodies aboard the Remus, Quest personal start getting brutally slaughtered, one-by-one, themselves. With their ship still damaged, the team investigates a nearby, lifeless alien pyramid, not realizing its using their own personal fears to hunt them down and kill them.
As a lone spaceship proceeds on its long voyage across space, the crew encounter a strange pyramid form.

Surprise turns to horror as one by one, they discover that their darkest nightmares are all starting to become real.

The pyramid has to be behind it all somehow, but how can they save themselves from its influence....

Corman strikes again. This film stinks of an Alien rip off, and The Shining, and probably influenced Event Horizon, but at the end of the day, it's a very boring movie.

I wanted a camp B-movie with so bad their good performances and cheesy lines, but when it cam to all this, it was just too much of an effort to get excited by it all.

The effects for the time and the budget, are surprisingly okay, especially when Haig loses his arms, but effects do not make a decent movie.

I'm sure it's gained a cult status in it's 33 years, but it just didn't hit the spot with me.

A crew commissioned to find survivors on board a space ship that crash landed on a mysterious planet notice that at least four of the members are unaccounted for. An ominous pyramid, sitting off in the distance might hold the answer to their whereabouts. Once inside that pyramid, however, each search party crew member starts falling one by one to hideous monsters of all kinds..it seems those who are overcome by fear or madness, overwhelmed by the creepy obstacles in front of them, fall prey to certain creatures that appear seemingly out of nowhere. The Master, a being whose face is masked by an immense light, their leader is the one who sent the crew to this planet of supposed rescue, but it's clear in the opening that he has other reasons for their being there.

B-movie gorefest produced by Roger Corman is basically a series of gruesome murders, but has an eerie vibe most of the way through. Moments of disgusting grue include one woman who is raped and suffocated by a giant maggot, one's who body is squeezed so tight by some creature that her face explodes, one who is burned to death in a pressure-chamber mishap, etc. Fun cast includes Edward Albert as the calm, cool, and collective hero who seems to practically be the only one who can hold it together, Erin Moran as a claustrophobic telepath, Ray Walston as a quiet observer/cook who seems to have a greater role in the grand scheme of things, Robert Englund as an engineer who doesn't trust Walston, Zalman King as a very intense, misanthropic leader who seems intent on calling the shots when it's clear he's unstable, Sid Haig as a husky warrior too dependent on his crystal daggers, and creepy-eyed Grace Zabriskie as a captain with problems relinquishing a horrifying past incident concerning a killed crew she was the only survivor of.
