I will definitely get a new charging handle guide rod because when I try and pull out the bolt, it feels like it is getting caught on something, which I believe to be the bent part of the charging handle. How can something like this happen? This is a brand new 10/22. Is it worth contacting Ruger about this?

No, but does it matter? No, KIDD guide rod is not even fastened to the handle, it's three seperate pieces (rod spring handle) once in place it doesnt matter. As long as the bend is past the the point that the handle returns to. Still if you get the KIDD rod you will get three springs to play with to see which you

1 Oct 2009 does anybody know how to take the spring off the guide rod? i have a new high performance spring. thats the only part i dont get. it dont say in the. EDIT: i almost forgot if its a newer 10/22 there is no clip just a dimple in the rod (maybe even slightly bent) if thats the case then you need to smooth that out to
