A short film about revenge and gangs in the streets of Manchester.
Alongside Darius Britt Simon Cade is one of the most inspiring young film-teaching filmmaker on YT. It's really helpful to learn from other young filmmakers. I'm especially really impressed by his creativity in his videos.
Well...Unfortunately I'm not really satisfied with this short. Visually it looks really good. But the story doesn't fit for a short film. Although the story is well implemented, still it's not possible to feel for the characters, since the whole idea is material for a longer short film.
Really painful to see how only the thoughts for a film were not good enough to satisfy me, although everything else seemed good to me.
I was so disappointed to find that was nothing more than a thoughtless, amateur and quite frankly pathetic production. The story is way too rushed and the audience has no time to absorb anything or get to have feeling for any of the characters. Furthermore its directing is also too fast, there is little establishment of where the viewer is and this came across to me as lazy film-making with the director not taking advantage of the environments used in the film. Again back to the story it has too many plot holes in it: How did Mark always know where Connor and his gang were. Why did he have to write down Connors name? It was the most pointless part in the whole movie also not making any sense not to mention it was very patronising to the audience. The film was also littered with continuity errors: Daylight in the Takeaway window when it is suppose to be night, crew/equipment reflections in the glass also in the Takeaway as well as the gun being empty then magically having ammo again, also some of them have London accents when is set in Manchester. The only thing that doesn't fully fail in this is the sound and the high quality cinematography. So overall there were Two Wrongs in this film: Poor Writing, Lazy directing!?!?!
