The simple thought of taking a day off terrified him, and he would do anything in his power to make sure his captains let him get back to work as soon as possible when he had gotten injured. Lying in bed staring at the ceiling would hurt more than being forced to support his weight on a broken leg, for sure. Lying down, thinking about worthless things, not being useful slowly but surely killed him for each second passing by.
There were mainly two reasons for him to appear in his boss' office; either for a scolding because he’d left the academy on his own vigilante missions when he wasn’t supposed to be on duty, or because he desperately tried to beg his superior to let him back out on the field.
Persuasion.
In the end the wounds never really had the time to heal before he was back in action again.
He really had the gift of persuasion.

AND GETTING REALLY DESPERATE WHEN HE CAN'T GET OUT OF THERE AND TAKE HIM BACK BUT CAN'T SHOW WHERE HIS DESPERATION COMES FROM.
