This movie further solidifies the fact that Jackie Chan is nothing more then a clown and clinging on to that last bit of success he had only because he hit the Hollywood mainstream. His movies have pretty much always been a joke. His martial arts is based soley on the theatrical training he went through as a kid. Any early success he had should be credited to the popularity brought to the genre of martial arts films brought by the impact of Bruce Lee's hits.
Jackie Chan is the first of many Chinese action sellouts taking advantage of the import craze. He is a disgrace to Chinese actors and gives a bad impression of Chinese people in general. Sadly Jet Li seems to have fallen into a similar situation with his last several Hip Hop action movies. Absolutely pathetic.
The Medallion is a joke.

THE MEDALLION(2003)**** Jackie Chan, Lee Evans, Clare Forlani, and Julian Sands. This Jackie Chan action comedy is way better than his film "The Tuxedo". This was funnier, and more exciting.
For anyone who enjoys Jackie Chan movies or even plain action movies, I would highly rcommend this. This had cool special effects, exciting action sequences, and some funy moments! If you hated the tuxedo, then you'll enjoy this. If you liked the tuxedo, you'll love this.

Chan's signature mix of screwball comedy and gymnastic derring-do landed him his own cartoon series a few years back, and The Medallion -- with its bumbling spies and bounding star -- is about as cartoonish as live action gets.
The working title of the film was "Highbinders". In the original plot of the film, those who were given power by the medallion became a Highbinder. Snakehead's original goal in the film was to create an army of Highbinders to join in his crime organization.
According to the commentary by the editors, "The Medallion" was not American-made, although Columbia-TriStar bought the distribution and editing rights worldwide except in Japan, France, and Hong Kong (but these three countries retain the American cut of the film, the only cut ever made). The original cut was meant to be around 108 minutes, and the plot of the film explained Snakehead's crime organization of human smuggling, and the deaths that occurred from it, as well as his desire to create an army of Highbinders to aide his crime organization.
