Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth, but all of time.
When heroes alone are not enough... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, Rip Hunter will desperately try to prevent certain events from happening, by time-traveling; Now Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a desperate group of heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - not only is the planet at stake, but our timeline itself. The Great Question being asked here is can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
IDK what the deal is with the bad reviews. All I can think of is it's fans of some of the other comic shows who just can't accept the crossovers. For those complaining about having to suspend any thoughts of reality; it's a comic based show so that need should go without saying. Besides, you need to suspend reality for pretty much any show on television.
Personally, I don't watch many of the comic based shows other than Gotham. I was actually on IMDB reading up on some of them to see which one to give a shot. It was the Purcell & Miller combo that swayed me; not only do I love their chemistry from Prison break, but I was curious how they would fit into a comic based show. I was pleasantly surprised to see them as a team breaking out of prison.
For having so many characters of equal importance I'm also satisfied with their interactions, and do not think the show suffers from the number of characters the way some other reviewers state. Quite honestly I've found many of the negatives mentioned by others either greatly exaggerated. Every episode is not Savage escaping in some corny way like some say. In one of the first episodes there was him making the team disarm a nuclear warhead instead of catching him, and yes it was corny the way it went down, but once again; it's a comic people, that's how things happen. However, since then I haven't run across another corny ending ...yet. Someone else mentions the use of "bad porno' music as one of the only things that's done to show the team is in the 1970's. Wrong again! This is before my time so IDK many names of songs or groups, but Disco Inferno, The Bee Gees, and music that was popular enough that I recognized it; so another strike for the haters.
Then we have people complaining about CW being lazy and using the same writers as their other DC franchises. I didn't bother to look and see if this was even correct because it's such a ridiculous complaint. Since there are other shows with some of these characters, and story lines crossover, wouldn't it be common sense to use the same writers so they can minimize conflicts in the story line from show to show?
I have to admit that after reading the bad reviews my expectations were pretty low and I was expecting some really bad dialogue, but that is not the case. I'm 8 episodes in so far and am enjoying the show. It took me a while to get used to Miller's voice, and it was one of the things that first stuck out to me as kind of corny, but then I realized he's playing that part wonderfully, and the Dr. Evil-like super villain voice fits the genre perfectly.
If you give it a chance you'll find many of the complaints are unfounded, and just people wanting to complain. After all, how seriously can you take a complaint about bad writing when reviews that make these charges are rife with errors in capitalization, spelling, and basic grammar?
OK, I really tried with this show. I suspended disbelief for the first 2 episodes. But when you slit savages throat and he is collapsed on the floor, why not pick up the dagger he drops(the only thing that can kill him), drag his ass to the ship, lock him in chains(he has no super powers beyond living forever) and wait for Kendra(who is the only person that can kill him) to wake up and kill his ass. If all your every thought is about stopping him, wouldn't that enter your mind? I really hate the fact that the writers have watered down Arrow and The Flash to concentrate on this, and all they can do is use 70's porno music and cloths to show they are in the past. Let alone all the crappy acting everyone is doing. and I blame the directors and writers, the actors were super on every other show they were on. this is a Classic case of made a kick ass show(Arrow). Made a kick ass spin off/Original show (Flash). Now CW wants another one and there rushing to get more viewers(more money) without actually using proper writers for the specific characters. Just take the same writers we've been using "that will work right?" I just really hate that I can still today enjoy watching the trailer more than the actual show. With this and Supergirl, I hope this doesn't kill the comic to TV show era.
Rex Tyler is a superhero called Hourman. He debuted in 1940, during the "Golden Age" of comics. Rex had developed a pill, called Miraclo, which gave him the strength and power of ten men, but only for an hour at a time. Rex had no time travel powers or technology, although a later version of Hourman, an android built by Tyler's company in the far future, did have a ship which could travel through time, as well as other time related powers.
The Justice Society of America, or JSA, is the first superhero team. Debuting in November of 1940, the team brought together several superheros which DC comics had published adventures about, including Hourman, Hawkman, the original versions of the Flash (Jay Garrick), and the Atom (who had no shrinking powers but was just a short man who was a good fighter), Green Lantern, as well as several other heroes. It may be helpful but is not strictly necessary. While all the characters on Legends have previously appeared on Arrow or Flash, this show has a mostly new plotline. It may be helpful to watch the two part Arrow-Flash crossover "Legends of Yesterday" and "Legends of Today" since those episodes introduce the primary antagonist for Legends of Tommorow's first season. a5c7b9f00b
