A mysterious virus hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of mass savages. An unlikely hero must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives.
The teacher and aspirant writer Clint Hadson returns from New York to the house of his mother in Ft. Chicken, Illinois, to write a horror novel and work as substitute in the local elementary school. He meets his former schoolmate and crush Lucy McCormick, who is also a teacher and is dating the strong teacher Wade Johnson. Meanwwhile the student Shelly Linker eats a chicken nugget contaminated with a virus. During Clint's class, Shelley is bullied by the boy Patriot and bites him on the face. During the playtime, the infection is spread in the yard among the students that eat the school staff. Soon the teachers find under siege of the zombie students. Will they survive the attack?
Its like watching a B-movie Syfy channel film, but with some named TV actors in it. Parts of it are okay, but then you have a cutaway to the guy in the van which is just stupid. He should have called for help, and where are the police who should have gone looking for their officer, and the chemistry teacher that got stupider, and the writer thinking about his book during the attack. What could have been good was ruined by stupid characters.

Then the kids start doing stupid stuff, but then pretend to be normal? The gates are locked but then just open. The kids cut the phone lines but how?

Its not funny enough to be a comedy, its got lots of gore but is too stupid to be a horror. Its like they didn't know what it was and so it failed at everything. It also looks and feels like it was shot on gopro cameras and there is a sound echo problem near the start. Its stuff like that which shows how much care was put into the production.
In 1998, Elijah Wood led a stellar ensemble as a student in "The Faculty," a refreshing blast of sci-fi, horror and comedy about a high school in Ohio whose teachers are infected by aliens and the students who try to thwart them. In 2015, Wood now leads a less stellar ensemble as a teacher in an elementary school in Illinois whose students are infected by a food-born virus that turns the little monsters into ... little monsters who eat the teachers. It's quite a comedown for Wood, who even has to endure a hobbit joke poorly delivered by Rainn Wilson, who plays his character Wade as if "The Office"'s Dwight was a redneck gym teacher. (And even that is better than co-screenwriter Ian Brennan, who does a cut-rate imitation of Owen Wilson in playing the Vice Principal.) That's the least of this film's problems, whose tonal clashes are matched by an annoying, clanging soundtrack that tries too desperately to conjure excitement from a tedious story. It's not that the basic scenario is unoriginal because the scenario is something the filmmakers could have done a lot with. It's not that the characters are unlikable and unsympathetic, it's that they are uninteresting. Since the kids are essentially non-entities, it's up to the teachers to carry the movie but neither the actors nor the screenplay are up to the task. There are some good lines here and there, mostly in the first third when there is still hope that this might be the fun, snarky thrill- ride it wants to be, but none of these people develop any rapport with each other and it never develops any momentum. If nothing else, I hope the kids had fun running around covered in fake blood -- too bad viewers get no such joy.
It makes an occasionally spirited pretense of injecting the tensions of the United States's educational system into a familiar zombie-siege scenario.
