A former professional wrestler is hired to be the bodyguard/nanny for a couple of bratty kids whose inventor father is being stalked by a rival.
A friend persuades the former wrestling star Sean to do a job as bodyguard for the two kids of top manager Frank Mason - someone is threatening him to get the plans for a secret micro chip. But when Sean arrives at his house it turns out that he'll not only have to bodyguard the spoiled brats, but also be their nanny, since they again scared away their former one. From then on he's occupied more protecting himself from the kids than them from the villain.
Whilst I didn't enjoy Mr. Nanny as much as Suburban Commando (released in 1991) it was still a decent enough film.
It was a comedy film and Hogan is quite good at comedy. Hogan isn't a bad actor either-after all we know wrestling is acting and Hogan's had plenty of experience in that.
The film was fairly entertaining and there were some good scenes in it although the kids did tend to get on my nerves at times.
It's a good film which I am sure most people would enjoy if they are in the right mood.
Wow! I recently saw this movie on TV, and even though it's 10 years after release, the power of this film is undiminished. Hogan has never been known for making conservative films, but Mr.Nanny breaks all the rules. It shatters boundaries and takes the audience places I didn't know a movie could. It may be quite experimental, and thus not for everyone's tastes, but it features a tour-de-force performance by Hulk Hogan reminisent of his unforgettable RIP Thomas. Probably the most mind blowing thing for me was reading that a lot of the Hulkster's on screen time was adlibbed, and that some of the most poignant lines in the film weren't actually in the script. A true modern classic.
The scene where the kids "energize" Hulk as he comes back from the shower had to be cut. The BBFC saw a too high danger of imitation by children at home. You still see what happens to him afterwards, but they removed the scenes where the trap is explained. This kind of editorial control seems to make sense and the movie - apart from its bad image quality - is still viewable.
In the UK the movie was solely released on VHS (Mr. Nanny only or in a bundle with Suburban Commando) and never appeared on DVD. 646f9e108c
