Batman and Nightwing are forced to team with the Joker's sometimes-girlfriend Harley Quinn to stop a global threat brought about by Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man.
There are spoilers ahead but I feel ok about that since there are SO many better DC Batman titles to watch out there than this garbage.
It started off not bad, I liked the cutesy opening credits, from which I was thinking ok this is probably going to be a bit different so keep an open mind.
The story was meh - Harley sleeping with Nightwing felt a little weird but I thought ok whatever remember this will be different so just go with it.
The fart scene was totally not in line with typical Batman movies/shows and I found the line "Smells like discipline" was pretty funny (will be using that in real life).
Everything was tolerable until the very end where we encounter some of the weakest writing I have ever witness. I felt like I was watching something my 12 year old nephew would write. 'They were fighting and fighting and fighting... then they fought some more... then swamp thing shows up and then the bad guy wins but then batman lights him on fire and he runs away...THE END'
I can't even remember the dozen's of other animated DC movies I have seen ALL of them are more worthy of your time than this thing. Total garbage, only reason I don't give it a 1 is because I have seen movies like Guilty by Association and this as bad as it is, is not as bad as that movie.
First of all, the most important thing about this movie, its aspect. That's not a serious Batman movie, in which you gotta focus on the plot. It's a movie where the main character is Harley Quinn, a film with humour where we see the chemistry between her and the Dynamic Duo being built and we also get some very funny moments.
You gotta lay back, relax, don't take it seriously and you'll have a lot of fun. OK, there are a couple of ridiculous scenes, but for me these are the only negatives of this movie.
The movie may be related to BTAS, but also manages to have its unique tone, that differs it from the series, the other Batman movies and perhaps from any DCAU film!
It's not a special film, not a memorable one, but it's really fun and easily rewatchable, with lots of hilarious moments.
As for the performances, Melissa Rauch doesn't disappoint in her first performance as Harley Quinn, Kevin Conroy IS The Batman (so no further comments) and Loren Lester is a great Nightwing as always.
As I said before, be careful on your approach of the movie. If you expect a typical, dark Batman film, you will be disappointed. Watch it as a comedy, a movie that's focused on Harley Quinn (the movie could have easily been called Harley Quinn and Batman) and you are gonna enjoy the 75 minutes of runtime!
This has not been confirmed; however, it might be able to be thought of as a sequel. Co-writer Jim Krieg has stated, "This is kind of a strange redheaded nephew of Batman: The Animated Series. But don't show it to your kids thinking that it's Batman: The Animated Series. It is its own thing, kind of, extrapolated." Executive producer Bruce Timm considers it to be part of the DCAU in his own personal head-canon, but allows viewers to decide for themselves. a5c7b9f00b
