Having discovered they could turn animals invisible, a group of scientists test the subject on a human. Head of research, Dr. Sebastian Caine decides to use himself as the subject. After the experiment can't be reversed, it takes a toll on Caine's personality, causing him to hunt down and kill his colleagues
A group of scientists, led by the brilliant yet eccentric Twinkie-addicted Sebastian Caine, are successfully researching invisibility. Having accomplished making animals invisible, Caine insists on being the next subject for the experiment. Unfortunately, the serum effects not only the external physical nature of the subject, but morphs the internal personality too. And that's when things start to go horribly wrong...
this movie was a great concept, yet much more could have been done with it. i did not appreciate seeing the numerous accounts of both female and male nudity, for inasmuch as the plot could have been strengthened without such disrespect of women in particular. it was an extremely creative idea however to imagine what it would be like indeed to be invisible to the human eye and to see what exactly one could do with that power, yet again there was no need for such blatant violence and disrespect, for i left feeling like i was robbed of something...could that be $6.50?
The special effects were eye-popping especially during the first half an hour. After that the film degenerated into a mess. The storyline was non-existent, the characters were not well developed. Kevin Bacon was too absorbed into his own world of voyeurism to the extent making this movie a somewhat soft-porn genre.
Ultimately the title is most revealing. It's hollow, man.
Being released as a Director's Cut nearly seven minutes of new footage were added to this movie. Most of these new scenes are story extensions but there are also two shots with added violence plus the rape scene was prolonged as well. This film is inspired by the novella "The Invisible Man" by H. G. Wells. The stories are quite different though, taking place in a different time period and a different place with a completely different series of events. a5c7b9f00b
