All Lodge wants is for his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they're more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Lodge, a gaming geek, takes his playing very seriously, unlike his babyish friends who'd rather be immature. He decides to shake things up by introducing two unconventional people to their group.
Gamers: DR is not a fancy made movie, it's more like amateur video. Horrible magic effect, really fake fireball, terribly made dungeon, castle, village...... sword, axe, shield, robe, plate..... okok... everything. You will need about 10 minutes to adjust your expecting on visual, then you will get 105 minutes of fun.
I'm from Hongkong and it's really hard to find RPers, none of my friends play RPG and I always fancy to be one of the character in the world of D&D. Watching Gamers: DR just show me what would it be like to be a gamer. You see rule books, dices, game set, etc etc etc; You hear terms like "fighter", "wizard", "hit point", "level", "character", "flaming hand", "Chaotic Evil".
What RPG fancy me is that it let you do anything u want to, not bonded by software RPG. Gamers: DR provide the same element, you wont know what happen next and it probably just make you laugh to dead. The movie goes both gamers's real life as well as in the D&D world. You will hear the gamer cast the dice when the character in game take action, which make you feel you really participle in the game.
I don't want to spoil anything, but in short, Gamers: DR is a must watch movie for RPG lovers. For people never play RPG game, I'm sure you still get many fun from it.
If you ever sat around a role-playing table you will see your group in this film. If you ever wanted to know what those geeks were doing then here's your chance.
We follow the actions of a group of gamers and their in-game characters. In game it's a fantasy adventure. In the real world it's a comedy soap.
This fan-sponsored movie is one of many by the same team. They are all entertaining but I think Dorkness Rising is the best. Great story; both in and out of the game, well rounded characters, very funny and well-crafted.
This sort of movie often gets the, 'it's so bad it's brilliant,' line but The Gamers is not bad at all; it's just brilliant.
The acting is just good enough, the scenery is just good enough, the costume is just good enough, the special effects are just good enough, the... you get the picture. You can see every penny has been carefully spent with scrooge-like attention. If you weant to make a comedy/romantic/fantasy/adventure and have an embarrassing budget then ask this team.
The sequel follows a different group of gamers and a completely different campaign. There are, however, a few jokes that people who have not seen the first film will not understand, such as Mark and mention of "The Shadow". 646f9e108c
