The national TV Guide's first issue was released on April 3, 1953. The inaugural cover featured a photograph of Lucille Ball's newborn son Desi Arnaz, Jr., with a downscaled photo of Ball placed in the top corner under the issue's headline: "Lucy's $50,000,000 baby".

Here is the the First Issue of the national Telecast Magazine. 8-1/2" x 11", 66 pages. Published by G&E Publishing, NY. Page one talks about this booklet being an experiment.

Jan 26, 2015 TV Guide's first national issue picked up on this Lucy mania, and on April 3, 1953 ran a cover featuring a photograph of Lucille Ball's newborn son, Desi Arnaz, Jr., along with a top-of-the-page teaser headline, “Lucy's $50,000,000 Baby."
