I've never actually used Rough Guides on the road but having read many of them in the planning stages I've never found them set up the way I like it. I don't think there's a 'better' one, but if I buy a guidebook I tend to go for Rough Guides as they have lots of interesting info in, and as most people use LP you I just bought the lonely planets “southeast Asia on a shoestring" a couple of days ago and thinks it's brilliant! I'm a Lonely Planet person myself
