Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City - a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.Honestly, this show isn't as wonderful as Avatar: The Last Airbender. In fact, it seems like many scenes are rehashed but the formula is nicely mixed around as well as those scenes. The series follows the next Avatar named Korra 69-73 years after Aang's passing and it has a very strong grip for a teenager trying to balance her life as the Avatar and an adolescent, this is how teens who didn't have a lot of freedom behave like. Not just her, but everyone else is well-written and very colorful such as orphaned brothers Mako and Bolin who have a nice serious and adult (Mako), young and brighter (Bolin) sibling dynamic, Tenzin who follows in his father's footsteps to continue on his dream, grumpy Lin who followed in her mom's footsteps as chief of Republic City police, and many more characters who get introduced down the road. The story lines are still deep and well-balanced, the fighting still keeps me on my toes, everybody's still very relate- able and likable, the settings are still new and breathtaking, the animation went up higher levels, and I look forward to another spin-off by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko if they're willing to do just that as well as what the new/old writers and directors would be willing to give me in the spin-off as well. Great job to everyone who worked on this.We have found our new Avatar!!! 70 years after Aang died came a new new Avatar named Korra. Korra is no average teenager, she's the next Avatar. But, there is one more skill she needs learn. That skill is airbending.
Korra already knows Earth, Fire, and Water. All she needs to train is her Airbending. Her trainer is Aang's son, Tenzin. Tenzin gets very serious while training Korra. But, airbending isn't the only thing that is on Korra's mind. There is a villain in Republic City, Amon.
No one knows who Amon really is. No one knows who's behind that mask. But the only thing that Korra, Tenzin, Bolin, and Mako know about Amon, is that he wants to take away bending.... For good...

In my opinion, I feel that this show is the only show on Nickelodeon that actually has a story to it.The main story of The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the last episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender, although the prologue in the first episode where Korra is still a child takes place 13 years before that. Yes. An adult Aang appears in a flashback in episode nine, as do an adult Toph and Sokka. Aang's spirit first appears to Korra in the Book 1 finale, appearing the same age as the flashbacks in episode nine. For stories that take place after Avatar: The Last Airbender you can read the graphic novels from Dark Horse Comics. The three volume series called "The Promise" is a story that details how the world took its first steps toward unifying all three Bending Nations into the Republic it has become in Korra's time. A second series called "The Search" is currently in the midst of publication. These stories take place immediately after the last episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender and show the original characters at the same age as they were on television. He is General Iroh, Zuko's grandson who is named after Zuko's uncle.
