How hard is it to make friends at university. Consider rushing if this community appeals to you. People only really make friends "for life" when they live on or near campus. Focus on your studies, they will be with your forever. Keep your room door open. I hate to say it but this is really getting me down, some people I feel like I kind of build a tentative relationship with, but then classes change and I never see them again because they are in completely different courses and I did not go out clubbing with them in order to strengthen that friendship. I am choosing between Linfield college I know, you probably never heard of itwhich is in oregon. Do you have any tips. Nearly everybody was really cool, and I have great memories of that time. Try to talk to one new person every day. If the school doesn't have any - guess what - you can create one. Currently, I'll be entering my fourth week of college as a freshman Monday, and just wish I'd known about this earlier. Choose a dorm with 1 other roomate, you'll meet more peoplle that way. Greek organizations are not for everyone, but they can offer a great sense of community. For me it was radio, and I was a college radio dj for years. Don't think you're the only one who feels like you do. How many people who return from Vegas saying - hey I lost all my money. Then there's Fresher's Fair - at Exam Schools, a place otherwise devoted will i make friends in college yahoo answers inflicting terrible suffering and sharp suits on Oxford students - This is where all the student societies try to grab new members. Communication, and interaction is key with both sexes. Join a fraternity or sorority. Being depressed doesn't solve anything. I have noticed people building strong friendship groups by going out clubbing often, but I am not interested in that. I've tried hard to make friends; introducing myself to people at uni, but nothing comes of it.Of course you only hear people talking about amazing people and friends for life. My step daughter went to University of Puget Sound, another small place, for one year and liked it a lot. If you're in the dining hall, comment on the food. Instead, put down the phone and use relaxed, confident body language: smile, stand up straight, and make eye contact with others.Full disclosure - I work at Linfield.
