My owners manual states Motorcraft MERCON ATF Ford part #/Ford Spec XT-2-QDX/Merconwell after looking around online it appears no one makes this. Checked Valvoline,Pennzoil. Castrol has a multi vehicle that meets ford type F what ever that means. I've also read that Mercon V is ok but not
The 2007 Mustang GT owner's manual specified the use of 3.0 L of non-synthetic Mercon ATF in the 3650, while the 2008 Mustang GT owner's manual now specifies the use of 3.0 L of Dexron III/Mercon Non-Synthetic ATF seems to work best for pre-2005 Mustang GTs.
I put Royal purple manual trans fluid in my '08, didn't seem any different than the factory fill. The friction improver package in Mercon 5 does make the syncros work better and last a little longer, don't think engine oil has the right sliding friction characteristics since they removed the Zinc for flat tappet lifters.
Hellocar nooby hereso I NEED a manual transmission oil change in my 2006 S197 GT, but I need to know how much of this do I need for a full top off after I drain it and how to fill itcan I fill it from the shifter and unscrew the knob and poor it in? or Do I have to fill it from the fill hole?
