Having previously used a full size G5RV & various other resonant single band dipoles and end fed wires. The largest radials are just over 56 feet long so

The AV-5 is a 1/4-wave antenna and it does require radials to work. It requires a set of radials for each band cut to the lengths specified in the manual. If you don't have a manual you can download one from www.cuscraft.com. Roof mount will be better unless you have a ground mounted position that is
