30 Jun 2015 How to knit a yarn over. Start by knitting to where you'd like to place the yarn over. (I placed my yarn overs every 3 stitches.) Bring the yarn forward. (Note: Because we are working in stockinette stitch, our yarn is in the back). Wrap the yarn around the needle. Save. Knit into the next stitch.

A yarn over is a way of making an extra stitch on your knitting needle and creating a deliberate little hole in your fabric. Yarn overs can be used as decorative stitches, in lace patterns, or as increases.
15 Nov 2014 I'm going to show you how to do the yarn over for knitting. Ready to make some holes in your knitting? Let's do it! 1. Knit up to the point where you'd like the hole to appear. (If you're using a pattern, the pattern will tell you where the yarn over goes.) 2. Wrap the yarn around your right needle from front to back
To make a yarn over, you simply bring the knitting yarn (the “over" strand) over the needle between two existing stitches on one row, and then work that strand as a stitch when you work your way back to it in the next row. Until you get used to them, yarn overs can be a little confusing.
One of the abbreviations that seems to confuse many beginners is the yarn round needle or yarn over knitting abbreviation. The short form of this knitting instruction is YO or YRN.

3 days ago Making a yarn over is a simple way to increase stitches. Using a yarn over makes a hole in the knitting and is popularly combined with a decrease such as knit two together to keep the number of stitches the same across the row. Yarn overs are used to make garments bigger or to add shape to your knitting.
