26 Jan 2016 down Mount Toubkal – at 4,167 metres the highest peak in the Moroccan Atlas mountains, and all of North Africa, for that matter. We also didn't bring a map, apart from a printout of a blog post I found online (which I thought gave pretty clear directions to the top!). And we didn't even consider hiring a guide
Also there are enough locals on the paths etc to help you out with directions. The Rough Guide is good for ideas too with routes and places to stay shown. The High Atlas maps look confusing and the village names I've given won't make much sense without them. From Imlil you could also go via Toubkal
Most trekkers leaving Imlil are en route for the ascent of Jebel Toubkal – a walk rather than a climb after the snows have cleared, but serious business.
