10 Aug 2013 To turn on 'manual payroll': Step 1 - Click Help on the QuickBooks bar, the select QuickBooks Help. Step 2 - Search for the manual setup article by typing calculate payroll manually, Step 3 - Help will display a series of payroll topics:
To set up manual (without subscription) payroll in US versions of QuickBooks Desktop: From the Edit menu, select Preferences. On the left pane, choose Payroll & Employees then go to the Company Preferences tab. In the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Features section, click the Full Payroll radio button. Click OK.
The function for "activating manual payroll" does not exist for Mac QB. Only for PC. For Mac, it truly is Manual!
