To determine the sample size required to confidently observe an anticipated effect Core elements. • Power. • Sample size. • Significance. • Effect size*. • These elements are all inter-related such that;. • If you know three you can estimate the fourth. • Manipulating one Stata, Minitab, SPSS Sample Power, R. • Online web
Hi, I'm having a problem reconciling the sample size calculations with sampsi. which seem to be a bit off. I'm using I guess the change was to make STATA more in-line with how other software programs do their power calculations. 158 of the PSS manual (www.stata.com/manuals13/pss.pdf).

STATA POWER AND SAMPLE-SIZE. REFERENCE MANUAL. RELEASE 13. ®. A Stata Press Publication. StataCorp LP. College Station, Texas .. We can use the power onemean command to estimate the sample size for this study; see . Introduction to sample size determination and power analysis for clinical trials.
Do you want to fit a Cox proportional-hazards model or compare survivor functions using a log-rank test or exponential regression? Use Stata's power commands or interactive Control Panel to compute power and sample size, create customized tables, and automatically graph the relationships between power, sample size,
Using Stata to Calculate Sample Size and Power. A. Required Sample Size (for a given alpha and power). 1. For a single measurement (a proportion) in one sample. Command syntax: sampsi proportion-H0 proportion-H1 , alpha(a) power(p) onesample. Example: . sampsi .50 .60, alpha(.05) power(.90) onesample. Result:.
Biostatistics and Epidemiology Using Stata: A Course Manual [unpublished manuscript] University of Utah School of Medicine, 2010. For example, comparing mean±SDs . We see that Stata's sample size calculation is conservative, but provides an adequate sample size for any of the three approaches. It works for both the
