I have a couple users displaying garbage characters when they viewing PDF's in Adobe Acrobat Pro. They are If they send a PDF over to me, it displays fine on my machine, so it seems to be exclusive to their display. Has anyone else . This is seen on the screen not when printing correct? 27 Jul 2016 I see this too when Publish to pdf. Doesn't seem to be font specific. PDF looks fine on screen (Adobe Reader or Preview), letters all stacked up when printed from Adobe Reader and Apple Preview. Print/Save as PDF (MacOS process, not VWX) results in file that prints OK in Adobe Reader and displays

I'm currently using Adobe reader X. This problem happened spontaneously while I was printing my usual PDF document and persisted thereafter. Looking perfectly on the computer screen and the print preview, the gibberish text which is a messy combination of Greek letters only appears
What worked for me was: Select Print. In the print dialog box, select Adobe PDF and then Preferences. In the Printing Preferences dialog box the tab should be Adobe PDF Settings. Uncheck the box next to Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts. Select OK.
When printing PDF documents, occasionally the printout will show garbage characters (like random letters, number and special characters) in place of the original text on the PDF.
