Hi there, I've just purchased a Denon PMA-720AE amplifier and Tannoy Revolution DC6 speakers as an upgrade to my old Cambridge Audio A5 amp and I've booked myself in for a demo on Sunday next week with the Marantz PM6005 and Cambrige Audio 351A (both with the Tanny DC6 speakers).
Marantz PM 6005. Pioneer A-30( which I have been told is an A/B amp, I have no idea as to the class of any of the others.) Arcam fmj 19 ( bit more than I want to spend. Denon PMA 720 AE. Yamaha A-S500, A-S700. Onkyo A 9050. Marantz and Onkyo have optical/digital input which could he helpful later
My options are the Denon PMA-720ae or the Marantz PM6006. I have the pm6005 (similar, maybe marginally less good than the pm6006) and a friend has the denon. The Denon is a nice amplifier but it is more entry level, the Marantz is a much more accomplished amp in just about every way.
I have boiled it down to the Marantz PM 6005, which has the advantage of the digital input, not needed now as the stereo and the TV are in separate rooms, but when we have to move , age related, we could probably use that feature. Then the Yamaha A-S700, bit more power, and the Denon PMA 720 AE,
Which one is better choice for my Quad 11L Classic speakers, I mean which one has more open, more dinamic and more detalied, but also musical and not soulless sound. Mainly for classical music.Tha Marantz PM 6005 is at 1,5X price compared with Denon 720AE (I wonder if there is a great difference
3 Aug 2014 Is it for any particular reasons you'd go with the Rotel and/or Music Hall? Do they tend to be more transparent? I did also check and consider the Music Hall, as it seems to be favored by some, and it's at the same price point.. However when reading the manual I did not find any absolute frequency response
