If I understand your need to add line numbers to the PDF, you can by using the lineno package. It does, however, only add line numbers according to how LaTeX sets up the text, which can be quite different from the source.
line numbers can be activated by adding the line linenumbers after begin{document}. The package has several options, for instance printing only every 5th line number, or starting to count at 1 for each page, etc. A users guide is available at www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/lineno/ulineno.pdf. 28 Oct 2008 When using the linenumbers command, it does not add any line numbers but shows one line per page. Section 4 of ulineno.pdf ("Numbering modes") essentially tells you that the way lineno.sty tricks TeX into giving it the ability to number the lines is by pretending that the page actually ends after every

5 Aug 2011 that you submit whether or not the journal requires it, making the reviewers' task easier. In Microsoft Word for Windows, enabling line numbers is under the layout tab. For Microsoft Word for Mac, enabling line numbers is under Format, Document, Layout. For LaTeX, usepackage{lineno} and linenumbers*.
Now count the line numbers on a sample page, and see if you need to adjust the amplification factor. Rinse and repeat. Once you've got the right number of lines, play with the offset value until "1" lines up with the first line of your pdf text. Save a screenshot of the successful values so you can remember next
This solution uses the LaTeX listings package to create line numbers. I can only get them to work by accumulating across all code chunks, but I imagine there is a similar solution that will enumerate lines only within each chunk. Here's the .Rnw source: documentclass{article} usepackage{listings}
15 Oct 2010 I'm having a few problems with line numbers appearing for text around equations in my document. I have done all the basics (usepackage linenumbers etc), and it all works fine, however for the text above an equation and for a paragraph of text afterwards, the text is not line numbered. It seems this whole
For creating a final pdf from your source, a pdf viewer must be present on your machine. Click on the Help button at WinEdt's Options -> Execution Modes| PDF Viewer for details (and check out the Help topic, Adobe Blues; use the Index). Note that Q: How can I show or get rid of line numbers in my WinEdt documents?
