15 Feb 2017 To show or hide guides, choose View > Guides > Show Guides or View > Guides > Hide Guides. To change guide settings, choose Edit > Preferences > Guides & Grid (Windows) or Illustrator > Preferences > Guides & Grid (Mac OS). To lock guides, select View > Guides > Lock Guides.

30 Jul 2015 Create a rectangle that surrounds the area where you want the guides. Select rectangle and go to Object -> Path -> Split Into Grid Set 80px for width and height and click OK. Go to View -> Guides -> Make Guides
28 Jan 2016 I'm currently using the solution with creating a 1 px grid and it works OK, but not in conjuction with "Smart guides" feature. I think Illustrator is snap to the next. I should also mention Illustrator CC has snap to grid and Illustrator CS6 has snpa to pixel/point so needless to say the experience is better in CC.
