Jacq Vaucan is an insurance agent of ROC robotics corporation who investigates cases of robots violating their primary protocols against altering themselves. What he discovers will have profound consequences for the future of humanity.
In 2044, solar storms have killed 99.7 % of the world's population and only 21 million people survive. The ROC Corporation has designed and built robots called Automata Pilgrim 7000 to help to rebuild the world. These robots have two security protocols; they can neither harm humans nor alter themselves or other robots. When police officer Sean Wallace shoots a robot and claims that it was altering itself, ROC insurance agent Jacq Vaucan is placed in charge of the investigation. Soon he believes that there is a "clocksmith" illegally modifying the robots. Jacq wants to live in the coast and asks his boss and friend Robert Bold to transfer him with his pregnant wife Rachel Vaucan to the coast. Robert offers the possibility if Jacq resolves the case. Jacq and Wallace go to a brothel where the modified robot Cleo attends and Wallace shoots its leg, expecting that the owner will lead them to the clocksmith. They meet Duprè but she is not the clocksmith that is modifying the robots. Soon Jacq discovers who is the responsible for modifying the robots but the Powers that Be in ROC believe that Jacq is the one to be blamed.
When I Seen the trailer I didn't think much of the film Autómata, But I see it had some good actors and and I like sci-fi movies.
If you Can get over the idea that the robots are annoying slow and do not have a better voice box,then your okay but if you like the more fast and Acton robots, then this may not be for you.
maybe that something that could of been played with having good and bad condition robots, all though some did just not the voice box but the boss has got some deep voice but if you going to change one you may as well make them all better.
This movie definitely has got thickness and depth and the sci-fi edge and if you don't look for floors in the movie and just watch it is good and leaves you wanting more of the same.
with that being said I think the are moments in the film where it feels a bit sloppy and just needed some more care and all the main acting was mostly good. And Antonio Banderas with a blad head makes a good charter in the movie but some how after watching it again you think the charter a wimp, well after all he is just a insurance agent part of the role
in the end you feel like watching a better sci-fi leaves you wanting more in a good and bad way a lot like the remake of total recall movie but still good.

Automata is a bit slow and it drags in certain areas for sure but it elevates from Antonio Banderas perfomance but also a plot that is interesting enough to keep viewers guessing of what is going to happen. Overall a decent sci-fi film that could have been even better!!! (6/10)
Automata has moments of tremendous visual and storytelling elegance which are punctuated with ham-fisted characterization and thunderingly terrible acting.
