Two East Asian surfing brothers in California discover they are the long-lost princes from a China Sea Island. Part of their inheritance is magically induced prowess in hand-to-hand combat. Using their new powers they act to dethrone the island's current dictator, a mad despot.
Brothers Johnny, an adolescent surf talent, and Adam, a preadolescent video-game addict, grow up care-free in California as adopted sons of Marines veteran Mac, inseparable friends of wacky local lout Iggy. Colonel Chi's military reign of terror culminates in their tiny birth-land, island state Patu San, off the Viet Nam coast. Former royal guards officer Zatch comes to summon the brothers to return and restore the pacific monarchy, because they are the sons of the murdered king, whom Mac took in exile for safety. They are joined on the adventurous journey by a bored Californian police detective whose attention was drawn by the ninja team that failed, thanks to Zatch, to murder the brothers in Mac's home.
This has to be one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life. I was just going to my youth group like every other week, but this week was oh so different. This week we watched a movie and not just any movie it was Surf Ninjas. My friend picked it out and so i thought it would be okay but the more i watched it the harder it became to watch. I lasted throughout the whole movie, i couldn't believe it. I was so mad that we had to watch this stupid movie. After i left i couldn't help thinking how bad it was and then i realized that this is hands down in the top 5 worst movies that i have ever seen in my life. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE: YOU WILL REGRET IT. I know i did.
I saw this film and was totally amazed, at first glance it appeared to be a kids film. A cheesy ninja action film with lots of bad humor and hokey acting. However, if anyone has ever seen the cult classic The Kentucky Fried Movie, they will immediately recognize that a large part of Surf Ninjas is based on the short film, A Fistful Of Yen, which was part of The Kentucky Fried Movie. The character of Colonel Chi, played by Leslie Nielsen was based almost exactly on the character of Khlan from A Fistful Of Yen. Including the joke about the evil one handed dictator having an answering machine. For all those who hated Surf Ninjas, I would recommend seeing The Kentucky Fried Movie, and after watching the short film contained in it, A Fistful Of Yen, to watch Surf Ninjas again. I guarantee the film will make more sense and be much funnier. By the way, Abrahams and Zucker, who made The Kentucky Fried Movie, also made Airplane, with Leslie Nielsen playing a part. I don't think it is a coincidence that Nielsen reprised the Abrahams and Zucker role of Khlan in the Neal Israel film, Surf Ninjas. Surf Ninjas was the stealth bomber of cult comedy classics. Watch it again, with open eyes.
