When you switch the cords the currently active PS will go passive and the passive will go active, so the server will never lose power. You won't need to do anything manually to g the redundant power supply to work. Thought i've not tried it on my dell servers, i think there should be no problems.
25 Sep 2014 Hi john84645. E1624 means the power supply redundancy is lost. In other words, 1 of your power supply is faulty. You can double check on the power supply indicator on the back of your server. For your reference, please check out this manual on Page 22 and 118:
