Right after you select manual focus, look for the slider scale on the right side of the display. I thought this was a feature of the particular camera app on this phone.

There were a couple out there that claimed to have manual focus but basically just did what you described as "assisted auto focus." I found this thread at XDA where some people have been looking through the code to find a way to add the manual focus

The camera API is here developer.android.com/reference/android/hardware/Camera.html. That's the only API that exists, unless you have a model of phone that exports additional functionality (and in that case it won't work on any other model of phone).
Is there anything similar on Android? I mean, a camera app with full manual controls, focus slider included? My LG G2 has manual focus in the standard camera app. I assume that the G3 does, too.
