9 Sep 2011 It fell short of SiC in a couple of categories so I had a hard time saying it was the best guide. It certainly excelled in an area or Aluminum Oxide: 1200-1400. Alconite : 1300-1500 NanoLite : 1800. Zirconia: 1000-1400. Zirconia PVD: 1600 SiC: 2200-2400. Matt Davis Otterods-High performance fishing rods.
19 Oct 2015 What is the minimum guide insert/ring you would require on your rods? Add line choices for each Last few personal builds I've used the Alps zirconia guides and been very happy with them as well. Don't think you can go . I just ran a spreadsheet on my last build; Torzite vs Alconite. A Torzite guide set
I'm just curious as too what Batson's thoughts are on SiC guides vs the Zirconium. SIC is a bit "harder" than Zirconium in ring materials. That said, I'm not sure that "harder" means that the heat dissipation will be any greater with SIC then the Zirc.
25 Sep 2015 There isn't a braid made that will damage a ceramic fishing guide, if your guides are showing wear, throw the braid away, it's full of abrasives like sand etc., that's the problem. Zirconium guides are just one step down from SiC, harder than Alconite and other grades of Hardloy (Aluminum Oxide). I've used
Alconite: 1700. Zirconia: 1400-1800. NANOLITE: 1800 SiC: 2200-2400. ALL of these materials are SUFFICIENTLY HARD to make good guide rings. Alconite - MARK GIBSON, Material Sci./Eng. materials? SEE [www.rodbuilding.org] GOTTA RUN, Later - c.midnite. -Cliff Hall+++. Re: Nanolite vs.
What is the difference between Zirconium rings and SIC? I know that Hardaloy rings are a cheaper substitute for the SIC, but I have not heard anything about the zirconium rings. I want to order a set of the ALPS guides with zirconium rings for a braided line fluking rod, and was wondering if they would be ok.
18 Oct 2016 A Zirconia based insert from American Tackle, Nanolite offers a high strength guide that cuts down excess material and weight. Nanolite was designed to handle braided lines and super lines with ease. Alconite Inserts Lightweight and durable without sacrificing any hardness, guides with Alconite inserts
31 Jul 2013 Looking at a couple inshore rods that come with zirconium inserts with titanium bases. How are they compared to sics and alconite? Thanks.
