5. In adult patients undergoing attended PSG for suspected OSA, does a split-night study accurately diagnose OSA and improve efficiency of care compared to a full-night study? (See. Recommendation 4.4). 6. In adult patients undergoing attended PSG for suspected OSA, do two nights of attended PSG accurately diagnose
We suggest that when the initial polysomnogram is negative and clinical suspicion for OSA remains, a second polysomnogram be considered for the diagnosis of OSA. (WEAK). Aside from the home sleep apnea test (HSAT)—which you may have already experienced—there are three main in-lab, overnight sleep tests you might encounter. Many people start with an overnight or nocturnal polysomnogram (NPSG), a baseline diagnostic test. Others may already have an apnea diagnosis and return
Mar 10, 2015 Guidelines for Efficiency. As efficiency is key in a split-night study, simple tips can help sleep techs successfully perform. Andra suggests trying out a few different types of CPAP mask for patients before the test starts. Andra says, “I had a hard and fast rule to try a few types of mask for a patient prior to testing
Results 5 - 10 About the split-night study: A split-night study is an overnight polysomnogram performed with a two-hour period of baseline sleep study recording, followed by a CPAP titration study if it is determined to be indicated by the presence of clinically significant sleep apnea.
A split-night PAP titration is indicated for patients who are diagnosed with severe OSA, which is defined as an AHI of at least 40 documented during a minimum of two (2) hours of diagnostic PSG. A split-night study may be considered in a patient with an AHI of 20 to 40, based on clinical judgment (3).
