- A Strong lead -
The croud that gatherd were merly spectators to the odd scene before them. The demon wasn't tearing her to shreds and eating her or sucking her blood like the storys heard about the blod thirsty demons.
Kagome was too absorbed in InuYasha to notice the crouds mixed reactions, fear, confusion and anger boiled threw them as they saw him walk away.
The rest of their expedition came foward to meet them, looking confused over the big croud and their stares at the odd couple.
"What happend here?" They asked as they saw what Kagome failed to notice. Kagome retold the earlier events in the town monks home.
The croud had followed them down to the harbour, just as the policemen with their guns ready. InuYasha groweld and showed his fangs to warn them from coming any closer.
"InuYasha!" a new voice came, this time from the ship behind them. As Kagome turned to see who it was she saw a monk in a purple robe walking down the gangplank towads them, he had darkbrown hair and a golden staff.
"Keh! so you're here to, Miroku?" InuYasha said not taking his stern look off the crowd to greet the monk.
"Seems like it, old friend." the monk smiled and turned to the croud to speak.
The mayor approached with four armored police men to speak to the expedition group,
"Demon!" he said harshly "This time I give you permisson to leave with theese people. But if we ever see you here again, you'll pay for it... Dearly!"
"Like I want to come back here idiot!" InuYasha groweld deeply.
Now when the last member of their search team was added they could start their journey to find the poor kids. In less than thirty minutes after Keade said they'd be ready they where and was going north, like InuYasha had said that the kidnappers took the kids to,
Kagome was very much enjoying this, it was nice to sit on a sled and be warm despite the cold and snow. InuYasha trotted beside Miroku and his sled with the packed baloons.
Hours passed before they stopped to eat. Kaede told Kagome about a strange rumor she'd heard in the town and Miroku was griling a newly caught rabbit that InuYasha had captured earlier.
"InuYasha, have you been here before?"
Kagome asked looking at him in the light of the fire.
"Once..." He anserd scratching his right ear with his foot, making her giggle.
"There is a village not far from here, right?"
"On the otherside of that hill top." He said as he looked in between the few trees.
"Is it far?" She asked.
"For me or you?" InuYasha looked back at her.
"For me..." She anserd poking with a stick in the fire.
"Too far, but not for me." He said and drank some wather from the bucket beside him.
"How long will it take you?" She asked and waited for his reply.
"I could get there and back before next moon rising.." He said drinking more from the bucket beside him.
"I feel this is inportant, maby it's a clue to why they kidnapped the children. I feel it needs to be looked into, please?" She watched his pink tounge when he licked his lips and then he became still, sitting like the first time she saw him. He studied her and she looked into his golden eyes, he was not blinking. He knew she was itching to go and also knew that she wanted him to take her to that villagage.
"I gave my word to that old woman Kaede, she decieds if we go or not." InuYasha said now blinking and putting more wood onto the fire.
"But what if she says we can?" Kagome asked with a hopefull smile.
"Then my anser is yes." InuYasha had barley said those words before Kagome was off to talk to Kaede.
"Kaede! InuYasha can take me to the village to find out what's going on there and we'll catch up with you. He'll find you," She said pleading "I think this is really inportant! I am safe with him but he wont go untill you say it's allright."
Before Kaede had a chance to try to say no to Kagome and deny her Miroku cut in;
"I've known InuYasha for a long time and nothing would make him break his promice to you. What speed concerns, he can run for hours and days without getting tierd."
"Can't you take some of the men?" Kaede asked, still unsure in trusting the demon or the monk fully.
"They'll have to walk", Kagome pointed out. "You can't bring a sled over that kind of terrain. InuYasha can travel much better in that terrain, I wont slow him down. I promice we'll be back as soon as we can!" Kagome hoped as Kaede considerd what she said.
"We do need more information," She said thoughtfully. "InuYasha!" She shouted "are you willing to take Kagome there?"
"I'll do it, if you tell me to.." InuYasha said as he walked over. "She'll be under my protection too."
"Then take her there and back as fast as you can, InuYasha." Kaede orderd and InuYasha nodded.
"Be careful Kagome!" Kaede added as an afterthought when Kagome got a place on InuYashas back. InuYasha sprinted away as if she was wheightless, threw the snow and towards that hilltop.
InuYashas feet made a crunching sound in the snow as he ran, he held a good pace eventhough he was running threw the trees, swiping the branches away so they didn't hit Kagome. He climbed the hilltop with ease jumping from stone to stone going up to the top. Kagome felt like she wanted to talk to InuYasha but she was unsure to what she'd say. He continued running with that pace from eralier, not slowing down and she was amazed by his stamina, his breaths was calm as if he was only taking a walk. They had been traveling for an hour or more, so Kagome was glad when she found that InuYasha slowed down and finally stopped, he sniffed and looked up into the dark sky.
"Look up.." He said his gaze still at he sky.
Kagome looked up too, but she had to dry her eyes with her vrist as she was too cold to see threw the tears. The stars were clear as diamonds and straight across the darkend sky with it's diamond stars hundreds of dark figures was flying from east and south to north.
"Is it birds?" She asked trying to focuse on them.
"It's demons..." He anserd, still looking up at them.
"Demons! what are they doing?" She asked confused.
"Flying out to war, maby. And there's plenty of them."
"Do you know any demons?"
"Keh! I am one, remeber? Kaede would fear this.. If they're going to aid your enemys, you stand a small chance of coming out alive so you have reason to fear. InuYasha said slowly.
"Kaede would not fear. You're not affraid, right?" Kagome tried to see his face but she couldn't.
"I am not affraid! I do not fear demons, or anything else for that matter. InuYasha groweld and started running again, this time abit slower. Kagome was almost asleep on his shoulder when he stopped in the snow.
"Here's the village" He said as she lifted her head off his shoulder. "what're you gonna do now?" He asked as he let her off his back into the snow and she realized she had a hard time to stand so she held on to InuYasha and stomped her feet untill she felt stronger.
"There is a ghost child or something like that down there in that village. I want to find him and take him back with us to Kaede and the others." She anserd as she climbed back onto his back.
"If he's outside," InuYasha said. "Then he really needs some chelter."
"I don't think he's dead..." But she wasn't sure. "Let's go there and look."
InuYasha secured his grip on her and started to carefully decend down the steep hill down to the village. The dogs in the village had aready heard them coming and started howling making a eary sound. When they reached the first cottages Kagome looked from right to left and she think she saw faces in some of the windows. She could imagine their surprice seeing her and InuYasha. In the middle of the village there were an open plan beside the lake.
