A vacationing woman meets her ideal man, leading to a swift marriage. Back at home, however, their idyllic life is upset when they discover their neighbors could be assassins who have been contracted to kill the couple..
Spencer Aimes is just your average, undercover, government-hired super-assassin accustomed to a life of exotic European locales, flashy sports cars and even flashier women. But when he meets Jen Kornfeldt, a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up, he finds true love...and happily trades international intrigue for domestic bliss. Three years later, Spencer and Jen are still enjoying a picture-perfect marriage - that is, until the morning after Spencer's 30th birthday. That's when Spencer and Jen learn he's the target of a multi-million dollar hit. Even worse, the hired killers have been stalking the happy couple for years, and could be anyone: friends, neighbors, the grocery store clerk, even that crabby old guy shuffling across the street. Now Spencer and Jen are on the run for their lives. As their suburban paradise turns into a paranoid game of dodge-the-bullet, they must find out who wants Spencer dead and why, all the while trying to save their marriage, manage his in-laws, keep up neighborly appearances ... and just plain survive.
Kutcher is barely believable as a secret agent and Heigl was even less entertaining. Spencer was probably the worst secret agent ever on film as he is beaten up by every person in which he has a physical altercation with. There was some chemistry between Kutcher and Heigl but no where near enough sparks to save this farce. The brief exchanges and references made about marriage are somewhat amusing but are nothing new. Heigl is becoming settled in a particular type of character. This one was no different any of her last roles in romantic comedies such as the Ugly Truth, Knocked up, or 27 Dresses.
Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara were one of the few bright spots. Selleck portrayed a good strong supporting role as the overbearing, over protective father. Catherine O'Hara was funny in her appearances as the mother. She was constantly drinking in nearly every scene. She had a drink for every minute and occasion as the movie progressed, her drinks became more outrageous. It almost appeared that she was drinking to mask what she might have known. But there wasn't really any reason other than the fact that she was a lush and loved every minute. Even at the end of the movie she had her drink which made it all the more funny.
I was really disappointed in Killers. The movie was full of eye candy for both of the sexes but nothing more. It was just senseless. Kutcher and Heigl are much better actors than this. Don't waste your time. No sizzle at all. If it weren't for Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara, the movie wouldn't be worth watching.
Fast moving romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher as an elite government assassin Spencer Aimes, who meets the attractive Jen Kornfelt(Katherine Heigl)mending a broken relationship. A whirlwind romance leads to marriage, but Jen still doesn't know what her husband really does for a living. Around the time of Spencer's 30th birthday he realizes that a price has been put on his head. Reluctantly Jen is pulled into dodging bullets and a team of killers hired to "waste" her husband. Rob Luketic directs this percolating action comedy. A very strong supporting cast featuring: Tom Selleck, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Mull, Kevin Sussman and smaller roles for Casey Wilson, Letoya Luckett and Larry Joe Campbell.
Everybody's cyber-pal Ashton Kutcher is perfect casting for Killers, since the screenplay is shallow as a Tweet and the movie appears to have been shot with a Nikon point-and-click camera he plugs on TV.
