Saphira: After all, how can a mere dragon expect to tell a man like yourself what to do? In fact, everyone should stand in awe of your brilliance of finding the only dead end.
Saphira: A hatchling that is what you are. A hatchling struggling into the world. I may be younger than you in years, but I am ancient in my thoughts. Do not worry about these things. Find peace in where and what you are. People often know what must be done. All you need to do is show them the way- that is wisdom.
Eragon: You're right though. I should have discussed my plan with you. I'm sorry. From now on, I promise I will consult with you before I do anything you don't expect. Is that exceptable?
Saphira: Only if it involves weapons, magic, kings, or family members.
Eragon: Or flowers.
Saphira: Or flowers. I don't need to know if you decide to eat some bread and cheese in the middle of the night.
Eragon: Unless a man with a very long knife is waiting for me outside of my tent.
Saphira: If you could not defeat a single man with a very long knife, you would be a poor excuse for a Rider indeed.
Eragon: Not to mention dead.
Saphira: Well...
Eragon: Have I ever told you how glad I am we're not enemies?
Saphira: No, but it's very sweet of you.
Saphira: Eragon.
Eragon: Is that all you say?
Saphira: Yes..
Like a flood of warm water, her consciousness rushed into him, even as his rushed into her. He gasped and tripped and nearly fell. They enveloped each other in the folds of their thoughts, holding each other with an intimacy no physical embrace could replicate, allowing their identities to merge once again. Their greatest comfort was a simple one: they were no longer alone.
