sccm 2012 software updates not working

I think maybe I'm doing something wrong. I am using the SCCM Software Update to install updates on clients. Everything seems to be working correctly, but the clients are not running the updates I push. I looked in windowssystem32ccmcache and the update files are there, but they are not being executed.
