Japanese 6-in-1 Chainmail. Japanese 6 in 1 - A great project with lots a flexibility in rings sizes. In this example we are using 16ga 9.5mm I.D. for the large rings and 20ga 2.5mm ID small rings. Six-in-One is defined by 6 rings connected to one main ring. I am doubling up the 20ga 2.5mm rings for style.

Required Tools and Materials. For this tutorial you will need: rings with an aspect ratio (AR=inside diameter(ID) divided by the wire diameter) of at least 5 (best looking); two pairs of pliers, depends on the size of the rings. I used 1.68 mm wire and an ID of 8.30 mm.

The European 6 in 1 weave is very similar to the 4 in 1, except it is slightly denser. Then put the open ring (red) through 4 of the rings (blue) in the original set of seven. Lay two strands of European 6 in 1 side by side, making sure the rings are facing the same directions.
