1 Aug 2007 Updated AAP Guidelines on Newborn Screening and Therapy for Congenital Hypothyroidism. The condition typically is permanent, although transient hypothyroidism can result from transmission of maternal medications, maternal blocking antibodies, or iodine deficiency or excess.
