Apr 9, 2010 Guessing that you want to "snap" the guide to an exact or even position like exactly 1000 px or 1". I don't know of a way to do that but I have found that when setting guides it is so fast to zoom in to a fairly tight resolution with the CTRL-ScrollWheel combination then use the status area at the bottom to set it
Apr 27, 2012 Gimp allows you to set guides by percent or by pixel under Image > Guides. AFAIK, the current pixel coordinates are shown in the bottom left corner of the drawing window. I've used Gimp for drawing pixel art before and it has worked well and I think it'll be fine for sprite work.

In addition to the image grid, GIMP also gives you a more flexible type of positioning aid: guides. To create a guide, simply click on one of the rulers in the image window and pull out a guide, while holding the mouse
Jan 15, 2016 In the tool options for the perspective tool, under "Guides", you can select "No guides". There are other options, as well, for a sparser grid, etc. enter image description here
The GIMP graphics editing program places a ruler above and to the left of the images you are working on. You can use these rulers to measure parts of your image, draw straight lines, layout image components and create guides to help you position graphic elements 7 Health Benefits of Eating Good CaloriesFitsMag.
Tip. You can add guides to the image more quickly, but less accurately, by simply clicking and dragging guides from the image rulers and positioning them where you would like. 6.23.1.
