Feb 22, 2008 Goes into gear but the car wont move. 5speed Well I am able to get into all of the gears but When I go to let my foot off of the clutch the car doesnt move :( . Note whether, on a manual transmission, the car slightly engages into gear or creeps forward a little and the clutch seems to be slipping. If this is the case, it may be a worn clutch plate. Then, with the clutch pedal depressed, place the car in a high gear and slowly let out the clutch. Usually, the car will stall.
For a manual transmission, this problem is most likely related to a worn (out) clutch. Try putting the car in a higher gear, like 3rd, then slowly release the clutch. If the clutch is working, the engine will stall. If the engine is still running after you release the clutch, then you've found the problem.
Symptom: No Movement. Your engine seems to be operating correctly and when you step on the gas pedal or try to shift into gear your transmission does not react. Or, Your car will not move in either reverse or forward. Without fluid, your transmission will become seriously damaged.

This comes just because you can move the shifter into all gears doesn't mean the clutch is good.
