"In the Soviet Ukraine, the reactor number 4 of the chernobyl nuclear power plant has suffered an excursion of power on 26 April 1986 near the 1:00 am, during a test to low wattage requested by the authorities of Moscow. In a few seconds the power increased by almost 100 times their nominal value. The Light-water coolant was not able to extract the enormous amount of heat generated and were vaporized in a fraction of a second producing an explosion of steam at 1:23:44 (local time). The Reactor was destroyed. Only 90 minutes after it has been decided to gradually reduce the power of generation to start a test on the circuit refrigerator the reactor 4, a sum of circumstances attributable to flaws in the systems of control, the risky deactivation of the security system. Supposedly it required the test and the ineffective actions of the operators before the emergency, unleash the catastrophe.
Only 2 minutes away from being initiated an uncontrolled generation of steam in the reactor core, this is out of control in 100 times the maximum allowed; burst by excess pressure the ducts of food and the protective shell of graphite kernel Resulting in a fire disaster and expulsion to outside of 8 tonnes of radioactive fuel, including radioisotopes i131 iodine and caesium, these past with a period of disintegration average of 30 years, after a double explosion that destroys a Part of the roof of the plant. In the next 10 days, around 12 exabequerels (fo = 10 ^ 15) or 300 mega curíes of radioactive isotopes were released into the atmosphere, contaminating significantly, an area of 150 000 Square miles. It also caused a measurable increase in the level of ionizing radiation in most parts of Europe."
