I was on my way to school. Just like any other normal day. Normal boring day to be precise. Or so I thought.
It was a chaos (as always) when I walked into the class and sat down. Nothing new seemed to have happened, but that was until the teacher walked in. She told us to be quiet and listen. On her left there was a blond long haired girl, about 165cm, with pale skin and colorful clothes.
- This is your new classmate, Hanna Björkqvist! Please be kind to her, she’s from a small town so she’s not really used to a school with lots of people!, the teacher announced. As if I’d care, not my problem, I thought to myself and started drawing on my desk.
- You can go sit over there, the desk besides the other Hanna we have in this class, the teacher said with a bit lower voice and then laughed a bit. I looked up from my scribbles and saw the happy oh so colorful girl almost skip to the seat beside me.
- Hello!, she greeted me with a smile and sat down, placing her backpack somehow to the back of her chair. I didn’t respond, why should I?
Class started, we had math, ugh. I hate math. So instead of actually doing anything I started once again to draw, this time on some paper I found in my math notebook. I felt an annoying glare and looked up, just to see the girl beside me stare at my drawing, fascinated.
- Oh my! You’re really good at drawing!, she whispered to me.
- ... Thanks.., I answered and hope she’d turn back to do her own stuff now. I hate this kind of people. Instead of doing her stuff, she kept staring at my drawing. At least for a while. Then she proceeded to click annoyingly with her pen.
- ... Could you PLEASE stop that?, I snarled to her. She apologized and stopped. But it didn’t take long before she was there to annoy me again.
- Could you help me out with this ta--
- Can’t you just fucking leave me alone, OKAY!? Cause you know what, I don’t give a damn! Ask the friggen’ teacher if you’re wondering ’bout someshit!, I shouted. I was fucking pissed off. All the pupils turned around to look at us, everyone were quiet. As waiting for me to continue. I just mumbled something and turned back to my drawings as the class settled back to what they were doing. The Hanna beside me seemed really surprised and chocked. I could sense it, didn’t even need to lay an eye on her.
When the class was over all the pupils just ran right out. Expect for some, like me. I was kind of happy when the teacher didn’t say a word to me about what happened, instead she stopped the new girl, and I herd how she said something like "Don’t care about her, she’s always like that." Tseh. She doesn’t even know me. I also heard how the new kid replied something.
I was walking down the stairs as I hear running footsteps behind me and soon I heard that annoying voice again.
- Hello again!, she was there beside me again. I’m sorry if I was annoying you in class earlier, I really didn’t mean to!
- Yeah, sure you didn’t.., I replied cold.
- So.. Your name’s Hanna too? Cool! I though we maybe could be friends?, she keep on smiling. If someone wouldn’t come up and punch her in the face soon, I’d do it.
- Well you know what. Think again.
After that she actually didn’t bother me for the rest of the day. And we didn’t even have all classes together so yeah.
The next day when I was on my way to school, I heard some screams and laughs outside the school area. I’d still have to walk there by so I didn’t really let it bother me too much. I got somehow surprised of the sight, even if it kind of seemed natural.
A bunch of school bullies were throwing the newbies jacket and bag around, laughing. She just tried to stay calm and get her stuff back, but you could see on her face she’d soon enough break down and cry. I continued walking towards them.
- Give back my bag! Or I’ll tell the teachers!, she threatened.
- Ooh, we’re so scared!, was the answer she got.
- Yeah you should be, I said with a calm voice and walked up to the bullies. I knew them, they were on the same class as me. And some of them are (or at least had been) pretty good friends with me. Stop this silly shit, it’s unnecessary.
- Heey, what’s gotten into you Hanna. You’re so boring and lame.
- Well maybe I am, but you really don’t want to get turned into the teachers. I mean, unnecessary waist of time. So is this. There’s plenty of more annoying shitty persons you can go bully in this school.
- ... Sure, just this time. Cause you’re (been) our friend. Come on, let’s go take a smoke before class!, one of the boys said and threw the bag down in front of him. So did the one who had newbies jacket. Then they just disappeared out of sight.
- You okay?, I asked Hanna and picked up her bag as she picked up her jacket.
- Yeah, I’m fine.. Thanks, she answered, wiped the sad hurt look of her face and replaced it with a friendly smile. Then we just continued our journey to school, side by side, without saying a word to each other. It wasn’t necessary.
The months passed, we became even better friends. We hung out every break, every free time we had. Even in town you could see us walk, talk and laugh together.
Soon came fall, but it didn’t last long before the cold winter came. I usually always thought it was unnecessarily long, but this year it felt just like time flew by. And eventually it was soon almost spring.
It was the 14th of February, Valentines Day, when Hanna sent me a note during class that she had something to show me, and that we should meet at the main entrance after school. So I did, I had to wait a while but soon enough she was there, apologizing as always.
- Come one, I have something to show you!, she said and smiled brightly, I just love the way she does it. She lead me to the metro station, we got on and then off again. We continued walking for a while until we came to this park thing. She took me to a place where there was a great view over the lake that was a bit outside the city we live in. It was just amazing! We were standing at the rail looking out over the lake when she turns to me.
- Umm.. we haven’t actually known each other for even a half year, but you’ve been a great friend! And I’m really happy I got to meet you, she started and looked at me smiling then starts digging in her bag. There’s something I actually wanna ask you too...
I turn to look at her and she’s holding a pink heart shaped box with a red ribbon on it.
- I love you, would you like to go out with me?, she asks me with a bit of embarrassed voice but still decides to look me in the eyes. It takes a few seconds before I say anything. Then a smile appears on my face.
- I’d love too, I answer her and I can feel how my heart takes a skip, I’m sure her did too. Without hesitation we hug. Then look at each other again.
- May I?, I ask her and we both understand what I mean. She nods, closes her eyes and so we shared our first kiss.
- The End -
